Our one-day COSHH Awareness course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely with hazardous substances. Covering legal responsibilities, hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures, the course helps organisations comply with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002.
Objectives:
By the end of the course, delegates will understand the risks associated with hazardous substances, be able to identify and assess COSHH hazards, interpret Safety Data Sheets and hazard labels, recognise appropriate control measures, and understand the legal requirements for managing hazardous substances safely in the workplace.
Course Content:
- Identifying hazardous substances, including chemical and biological agents.
- Understanding health classifications, hazard labels and pictograms.
- Routes of exposure and the health effects of hazardous substances.
- Using Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs).
- Legal duties under the COSHH Regulations 2002.
- Selecting and implementing effective control measures using the hierarchy of controls.
- Health surveillance and exposure monitoring.
- Completing and reviewing COSHH assessments to ensure ongoing compliance.
Assessment:
The course requires learners to sit a multi-choice consolidation assessment.
