Our Manual Handling course provides learners with a clear understanding of safe manual handling practices in the workplace. The course covers legal responsibilities under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, highlights the health risks associated with poor techniques, and explores common risk factors that lead to injury. Delegates will gain practical guidance on safe lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling techniques, helping to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries and promote safer working practices.

This course is CPD Certified, supporting ongoing professional development.

Objectives:

To equip delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely carry out manual handling tasks, reduce injury, and comply with relevant legislation and workplace procedures.

Course Content:

  • What is manual handling – Definition, examples and common causes of injury.

  • Legal framework – Including the key duties under Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

  • Risk factors and musculoskeletal system – How manual handling affects the body, main risk factors and musculoskeletal injuries.

  • Manual handling risk assessment and L.I.T.E.- Purpose of risk assessments and the L.I.T.E. principle: Load, Individual, Task, Environment.

  • How you can protect yourself and others – Safe lifting, carrying, and pulling techniques. The using of handling aids, maintaining good posture and reporting hazards.

Assessment: The course requires learners to sit a multi-choice consolidation assessment.
